Grilled sautéed squid with spicy satay sauce

Ingredients:

1 whole medium-sized squid

Satay sauce

White wine

Salt

Steps:

Step 1: Prepare the ingredients

After bringing the squid home, remember to clean them with a mixture of white wine, salt, and ginger to remove any fishy odor. You can soak the squid in this mixture for 10 minutes and then rinse them off. Place the squid on a strainer to drain off excess water.

Use a sharp knife to make cross cuts on the squid’s body, creating a crisscross pattern to allow the squid to absorb the seasonings.

Step 2: Marinate the squid

Use fresh satay sauce, avoid using satay sauce that has been opened for too long to prevent mold. Use a brush to coat the squid with satay sauce. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes. The amount of satay sauce you use depends on your family’s spicy tolerance. If you don’t like it too spicy, just use a moderate amount.

Step 3: Grilling the squid:

Place the squid in an oil-less deep fryer. Set the temperature to about 180 degrees Celsius and cook for about 15 minutes to get a perfectly grilled squid infused with satay sauce. The red satay sauce on the white squid looks beautiful, and the aroma and spiciness are excellent.

You can serve this dish as a snack or with a meal.

Grilled Salt and Chili Squid

Homemade salt and chili powder will bring a different flavor compared to using satay sauce, but it is very interesting and loved by many people.

Ingredients:

0.5 kg squid

Sea salt

Chili powder

Ground black pepper

Assorted vegetables for serving

Steps:

Step 1: Prepare the ingredients

Prepare the squid in the same way as when making grilled squid with satay sauce.

Step 2: Marinate the squid with salt and chili powder

Use 2 teaspoons of chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt, 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of seasoning powder. Mix them together. Then use a brush to evenly coat the squid with this mixture. Let the squid marinate for 15 minutes to absorb the seasonings.

Note: Choose small-sized chili powder so that it will be evenly coated on the squid. If you have homemade salt, it will be better than sea salt. Alternatively, you can roast the salt before using it to make the taste more flavorful compared to using raw salt.
